Compare the clip only with recordings issued under that handle.
Step one
A hidden mark narrows the search.
The mark links the audio to an internal handle scope. It does not publish a person’s name or profile details.
Finding a mark alone is not a verified match. The recording check comes next.
Step two
A private reference finds the recording.
When audio is issued, Speech Name saves a compact reference for matching later. Verification compares the submitted clip only with references stored under the detected handle.
Recording match
The audio reference identifies the corresponding issued recording or segment.
Clear fallback
If the service cannot confirm the recording, it reports only that a mark was found.
Result
Two checks must agree.
A verified result is returned only when the mark and the recording match point to the same issuance. Weak or incomplete evidence receives a limited result.
Why use two checks
- Keeps every search inside one handle’s records
- Reduces accidental matches
- A copied mark cannot verify an unrelated recording by itself
Short or heavily edited audio
The service may detect the mark without finding a reliable recording match. In that case, the result says “mark detected” and stops there.
Designed for real audio
Common edits should not erase the trail.
Verification is designed to work after everyday changes such as clipping, compression, or format conversion. Severe editing can still prevent a match.
An inconclusive result stays inconclusive. The service does not guess.
Privacy
Private by default.
Verification processes submitted audio to return a result. Public pages show only what the account holder chooses to disclose.
Limits
What a verified result means.
It confirms
- A Speech Name mark was detected
- The audio matched an issued recording
- The match is associated with the detected handle
It does not prove
- The identity of the speaker
- Ownership, consent, or a licence
- The truth or lawfulness of the content
